I’m running for re-election to the Pierce County Board of Supervisors, and I’m asking for your vote on April 2.

I’m a retired UWRF professor. My wife and I have lived in River Falls for over 30 years. If I had to describe my politics, I’d say that I’m pragmatic.

It’s been an honor to serve as your representative on the county board. The board is nonpartisan, and we’ve worked together – conservatives, moderates, and liberals – to bring you the best possible services, while keeping the county’s share of property taxes low.

In an age when politics seems to be endless fighting, I’ve been working to make sure we have local government that works for you.

Thank you, and please vote on April 2 at the University fieldhouse. Local elections matter. And contact me (links at the bottom of the page) if you have questions, or if there’s some way I can help represent you.

The South Fork of the Kinnikinnic River. I’m chair of the county’s ad hoc Groundwater Advisory Committee, which is charged with developing steps to protect our ground and surface waters.

County government is meant to be nonpartisan. I take that very seriously, as does the rest of the board. Local government should transcend party politics. We have board members all across the ideological spectrum with many different professions and perspectives. We strive for consensus, and most of our votes are unanimous. We take the best solution regardless of politics.

I’ve been honored to be elected first vice chair by my colleagues.

This board, and how we all work together, has restored my faith in democracy.

Every cent I’m using for my campaign is my own (and I’m not spending a lot). My opponent is raising money from outside River Falls, but won’t let us know who’s paying for his campaign. He’s a VP in the WI College Republicans who wants to bring party politics to local government. That’s not the direction we need for River Falls.
